Recent medical research has revealed a relationship between high cholesterol medications or those used to control type 2 diabetes, and the chances of developing degenerative eye disease associated with ageing.

The study, whose results were published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology, stated that the study, supervised by the European Union of Ophthalmology, confirmed a close link between high cholesterol drugs or those used to control type 2 diabetes, and a decrease in the chances of developing age-related macular degeneration.

The recent study reached its results after reviewing 14 studies involving 9,332 people from all over Europe, in which a large number of data were evaluated.
